Respect vs Love

Respect is often assumed to be a virtue, yet it functions as an egoic structure that maintains separation.

Beneath a request for respect is fear: do not question this, do not challenge this, do not come any closer. In this way, respect protects identity and preserves fixed images of self or other, keeping distance intact.

Love operates differently. Love does not require protection of image or avoidance of inquiry. It is open, present and resists nothing. Where respect creates boundaries around identity, love dissolves them through connection.

Notice when 'disrespect' may be felt. If inquiry feels threatening, the ego is being protected. If there is openness, go deeper and see what you find...
