Dog as Life Coach

Why do we love dogs so much?
Is it ’cos they do not judge,
When we don sweats and crumpled Uggs,
And a tea stained tee not washed in months?

Why do we love dogs so kind?
Is it ’cos they do not mind,
If we’re accepted or declined?
They see the same whole soul inside.

Why do we love dogs so deep?
Is it ’cos they do not speak,
Yet soothe us when we’ve had a hard week.
Perhaps it’s the inner peace that they keep.

Why do we love dogs so keenly?
Is it ’cos they are not greedy?
Content with a roof, a walk, some feeding,
Yet offer the love that we are needing.

It seems that dogs relate to humans,
In ways that we can’t master.
Perhaps if we observed their state,
Our world would heal much faster.

So next time we step into our day,
Instead of creating distance,
Let’s ask ourselves this question:
What would a dog do in this instance?
