Low Mood? No Problem.
Upon waking, I sometimes notice the beginnings of a 'low mood'. Thoughts are lower and denser than usual, and I recognise the potential for them to take hold and stick around all day.
I have also noticed that at any point it is possible to change my state of being, by simply intending to change it.
The ego will fight to stay alive of course - to keep me in the low mood - to persuade me that 'today is just a low mood day', 'I'm horrible to be around' or 'I should just accept how I feel' - but if I can see and smile at its attempts to keep me down, I can rise out of the low mood instantly.
In all cases, seeing the ego's attempts is rising out of it. In not taking the ego seriously or personally, there is more space.
When the 'low mood' is particularly sticky, I find changing the body's physical state incredibly helpful. Again, the ego will protest and come up with excuses - 'there's no point', 'you shouldn't need to' etc - but do it anyway. Go for a walk, do some star jumps, call a friend, eat some fruit - do whatever you know will facilitate a higher state of being.
Conisder using the emotional reaction guide if you think it may help.
If you experience 'low moods', see if you can smile or laugh at the ego's attempts to keep you down, and call upon others to help bring a smile or some greater clarity.
As I take the ego less personally/seriously, I have noticed a greater sense of resilience to imposing thoughts, and more faith (and experience) in the power of consciousness in dispelling all negativity.
